Danfoss hosts Congresswoman Gwen Graham at manufacturing facility in Tallahassee, Fla.

Rep. Graham’s visit to Danfoss Turbocor Compressors’ facility included a tour to showcase the benefit of energy efficiency technologies on the national and local economy

On January 4, Danfoss, the pioneer of oil-free, magnetic bearing, variable speed centrifugal compressors for high-efficiency air-conditioning chillers and a leading manufacturer of other high-efficiency components and controls for air-conditioning, refrigeration, industrial, and water systems, welcomed Florida Congresswoman Gwen Graham (D – 2nd District) to its facility in Tallahassee, Fla.

The meeting included a tour of the factory where Danfoss Turbocor Compressors are engineered and produced, emphasizing the importance of the advancement of energy-efficient technologies and the resulting impact on the industry, economy, jobs, and local communities. In December, Danfoss broke ground on its “Engineering Tomorrow Application Development Center,” a new state-of-the-art laboratory for the testing of HVACR equipment that will expand the existing facility.

“Danfoss has a tremendous history of innovation and we remain committed to developing energy-efficient technologies that impact the places we live and work,” explained Ricardo Schneider, president, Danfoss Turbocor Compressors. “Tallahassee is the global design center for magnetic and compressor technology, and our operations here plays a vital role in advancing technology. Danfoss is continuing to invest in the region. We’ve established a strong partnership of collaboration with Florida State University and its world-class laboratories and researchers that support the growth and development of new energy efficiency technologies through aerodynamics, power electronics, and magnetic technologies.”

“The public-private partnership between Danfoss Turbocor Compressors and Florida State University is just the kind of innovation we need to make America energy independent in the 21st century,” Rep. Graham said. “I’m proud this state-of-the-art research and development is being done in North Florida.”

“Energy demand is expected to continue to increase, and we see energy efficiency as the first solution to improving energy productivity, the economy, and national security. The centrifugal compressors we engineer are a proven technology that is making an impact both nationally and locally, contributing to energy savings as high as 42 percent annually, which can result in power plant CO2 reductions and helping to achieve our goals in the EPA’s Clean Power Plan and the Administration’s pledges at the recent COP meeting in Paris.”

Danfoss Turbocor variable speed, oil-free, magnetic bearing centrifugal compressors are used around the world in HVACR applications, including high-performance commercial and government buildings such as schools, hospitals, military installations and data centers.
