Nidec Motor Corporation Introduces New U.S. MOTORS Brand Cast Iron 6812 Frame Vertical TEFC Motor

Nidec Motor Corporation (NMC) today unveiled the U.S. MOTORS brand cast iron frame 6812 vertical totally enclosed, fan cooled (TEFC) motor that is designed for applications in the desalination, water/wastewater, mining, oil and gas industries.

The 6812 motor is a tubeless fan cooled design that decreases service requirements, compared to tube-cooled motors that can become clogged by airborne debris. Nidec is the only company that manufacturers this large frame TEFC with a ball type non-reverse ratchet. Ball type ratchets are a proven and more robust design, which require less service and downtime in critical applications.

The all cast iron construction, including the frame and end-brackets, reduces construction variations, and delivers a more reliable motor compared with a welded, fabricated motor. Mechanical variability (including Reed Critical Frequency) is also reduced. The one-piece frame ensures easy assembly and a shorter lead time.

“Within the last two years, we have increased our TEFC vertical motors’ horsepower range from 700 to 2000 HP to meet the growing industry demands,” said Nidec Director of Marketing and Product Management Tim Albers. “End users continue to seek reliable, higher horsepower motors in smaller frames, and the 6812 absolutely meets these demands.”

The 6812 is manufactured and assembled in Mena, Arkansas and is now available for quotations.
