SEPCO Presents at MaximoWorld 2019

Contributor: SEPCO

Mark your calendars for the 2019 MaximoWorld Conference and Trade Show for Asset Management Professionals, taking place August 6-8 in sunny Orlando, Florida, at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort. This must-attend industry event is the ideal conference for anyone looking to network and advance their asset management or digitalization journey.

You won’t want to miss Thursday’s presentation from 1-1:45 p.m. in LZ83. In this presentation, Chris Tindell, SEPCO regional business manager, will discuss how to track mechanical seal performance and life with IBM Maximo

SEPCO

Chris Tindell presents during a Leading Reliability event cohosted by Eruditio and LUDECA.

As mechanical seals become the primary method for sealing, the industrial process pump repair cycle is now driven by the seal’s lifespan. Often, users do not effectively or efficiently use Maximo to manage and track mechanical seal practices and life.

Additionally, many users regard the mechanical seal as a consumable item. However, in reality, the seal is sent out for repair and received again as a new item at the rebuild cost. Therefore, the rebuilt rotating item has a serial number and a rebuild history that is lost because of this item master classification.

During this discussion, you’ll learn that mechanical seal failure is only a symptom of bigger process problems within a facility. We will also discuss why identifying and addressing the underlying causes of seal failure improve system reliability and extend pump life.

Other key takeaways from this presentation include:

  • How to better leverage Maximo to track and maintain your mechanical seal repairs and inventory
  • Understanding the major sources of seal failure and how to mitigate them.
  • Hearing case examples about how end users have used failure code data to correct maintenance and operations processes issues and improve pump reliability.
