Can you imagine a day without water? No water to brew coffee or beer, no water to cook your favorite food or to enjoy hot showers…no water to transport excrement from your home to your local wastewater treatment plant!!!
I’m simultaneously spoiled living in Chicago next to Lake Michigan (which provides 84% of North America’s surface fresh water) while being acutely aware of the lack of access to clean water by other communities around the globe. While I’m here today trying to imagine a day without water, other people are actually living it.
Today is a good day to *do* something about it (really, every day is a good day to *do* something for a cause you care about). Today, let’s #ValueWater and talk about things we can DO to help our local communities as well as those across the sea.
I feel very fortunate to have just met an incredible individual at #WEFTEC18 last week. Kevin Sofen, with W.S. Darley & Co., stopped by the Empowering Pumps & Equipment booth to talk about Wristsponsible, a non-profit that is working to fund water purification projects around the world to alleviate some of the 900 million people that do not have clean drinking water.
When it comes to philanthropy, my thinking is…I either have the time or the money to help, so which can I give at this very moment? Today, as I made my donation to this awesome organization, I felt that I was still not doing enough. When this screen popped up, I literally laughed out loud – “Confirm Humanity”.
Our humanity is what ties us all together and what should motivate us to help one another. Our ability to not just survive, but to thrive is directly related to Water. Throughout history, we see evidence of this over and over again. From the aqueducts of ancient Rome to the U.S. Clean Water Act of 1972, the mission of having access to clean water continues…..what are we doing to support it?
Talk to me today. Imagine a Day without Water, then tell me what you are going to *do* about it….let’s share ideas on what we can do together – for the sake of Humanity! I want to hear from you!! #PumpTalk #ValveTalk #MotorTalk #CompressorTalk
