Potassium Chloride (KCl) build-up in the boiler system at a power plant corroded the tubing, which had to be replaced. If left unchecked, the KCl, produced in the catalysis process would also corrode the boiler.
A Hydra-Cell D03/G03 was installed to inject Ammonium Sulfate into the process and act as a KCl reducing agent. With its compact design, Hydra-Cell was easy to install on-site.
Since Hydra-Cell provides precise, accurate metering with remote flow control, there is no need for on-site stroke adjustment required with conventional metering pumps. Hydra-Cell also has a multiple-diaphragm design that provides smooth flow, so an expensive pulsation dampener was not needed.
If the proposed legislation is enacted, limits will be placed on KCl in all power plants. Similar chemical injection systems will be installed.
