A DAY IN THE LIFE OF JENNY CROZIER

A Day In The Life Of Jenny Crozier

My name is Jennifer Crozier, but everyone calls me Jen or Jenny. I’m a wife and a mother of three. I’m a college student. I’m active in my community. I’m a Safety Compliance Manager for Delta Valley Trucking and I also put on my boss pants and safety boots to be Co-Owner of Crozier Construction Services LLC. I’m an Ambassador for The Crew Collaborative sponsored by Caterpillar and Case, a member of The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), the Utah Valley Home Builders Association (UVHB), the Utah Professional Women in Building (PWB), and I’m on the Steering Committee for the Empowering Women in Industry Conference.

With my job in trucking, I work to help keep our drivers safe and compliant on a daily basis. I make sure all their paperwork is in order and that the drivers receive the individualized training that they need to stay safe on the road. DVT mostly hauls cheese, eggs, and turkeys. It’s always fun when I score some cheese as a perk of my job! It’s a challenge mostly because the compliance person is never the favorite in the office and laws and regulations change on a regular basis. I appreciate many parts of this job and I love the company I work for. My trucking bosses have been great to work with me when I have had construction deadlines, schooling, or other things that I need to take care of.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF JENNY CROZIERWhen it comes to construction my heart is full when I get to put on my construction boots and create in the exciting world of building. I cherish the fact that each day has a learning curve, a new experience, and a challenge. There are plenty of strenuous physical tasks I do on a regular basis such as pouring concrete, framing, rock work and drywall. I don’t shy away from any of it! I take pleasure in the fact that I can do hard things. Some of my favorite jobs are heavy equipment operation, welding, drywall texture, design, job completion, and working with amazing people. There is also no end to the behind-the-scenes work that goes into owning a construction company. Bids, estimates, tracking payments and subcontractors, etc. All of it has its own challenges and highlights.

To build, do an addition, or remodel a family’s home is such an intimate process. This is the space where they will live their lives, create their memories, have joys, have pains and shape them as a family. It is always a privilege to complete a job and know that it will be a blessing for years to come and that I was a part of that!

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF JENNY CROZIERI was drawn to trades from a very young age. Hard working blue collar runs through generations of my family’s veins. I started with a fascination with tools. As a teen I whole heartedly wanted to be a mechanic, but back then, I was given a hard no at every turn. My favorite thing to say is “Build the Doors You Walk Through” because why wait for someone to open the dang door when you can build it yourself. I wish I could have learned that lesson way sooner in life. This is what drives me now to show what I’m capable of. To show young people what they are capable of. My goal at this point in my life is to get the next generation into all trades industries. My latest endeavor is in full swing. I am in the process of publishing a series of children’s books that will each highlight different skilled jobs within the trades industry. I am beyond ecstatic to get these books into the hands of curious minds and spark a desire for change. The change that everyone belongs in this work and that there is room for all who have a desire. Construction is the life blood of everything…the nation…the world, new gen’s need to see this in action! Hospitals, schools, clean running water are all done by blue collar workers. Being a part of helping to keep these trades thriving is an honor!
