Upper Valley Career Center, located in Piqua, OH, is a trade school offering high school students the opportunity to begin their career pathway, earn college credits and begin work in their field of choice. UVCC has been the area’s leader in STEM Career and Technical Education for local high school students since 1975. UVCC offers an apprenticeship program in which senior year students alternate every two weeks between attending class and working full time throughout the school year. This week, 26 machining students and teachers from UVCC visited Crane Pumps to learn more about the apprenticeship program and tour the manufacturing and assembly facility. This marks Crane Pumps’ 3rd annual tour with the students from UVCC. Crane Pumps aims to hire two students from the machining program each year to work during their senior year of school and employ them full time after graduation. Crane Pumps believes it is important to support and encourage students pursuing industrial trade jobs after graduation.
