It is wonderful to see peers nominate each other! The Empowering Pumps & Equipment Industry Person of the Week is Julie Karleskint, Senior Associate with Hazen and Sawyer. Here is what she has to share!
Q. How did you get started working in the industry?
Julie: I wanted to make a difference in cleaning up the environment. I’ve always loved the outdoors and nature and wanted a career that could help in protecting our planet and the water that is so vital to all of us.
Q. What is your favorite part of your job? What are you most proud of?
Julie: I love working with smaller communities and assisting them in resolving issues. Many communities have aging infrastructure without the customer base to replace it, so working with them to find cost effective solutions and assisting them on finding the funding sources to put these solutions into place provides me with a source of accomplishment
Q. What advice would you give to someone new to the industry?
Julie: This is such a great industry to make a difference. It doesn’t matter if you are a treatment plant operator, meter reader, mechanic or engineer – by doing our best, we are making this world a cleaner, safer, and healthier place to live – not only for ourselves, but for generations to come.
Thank you, Julie, for being a leader in the industry and a great role model for Empowering Women! The #PumpTalk Community looks forward to keeping up with you!
