EMPOWER: Giving you the Authority or Power to do Something
As I look at the word EMPOWER, I am reminded of the many conversations I have had with professionals who are determined to drive change through leading others. This is not always someone in management, but employees seeking a leadership position to make a difference in the lives of others. I am inspired each time I meet one of these leaders; I am especially proud when it is a Woman as I know it takes GRIT. I have met some pretty amazing women this year as we focused on building a community for Empowering Women in Industry. This is one of the reasons why Empowering Pumps & Equipment will sponsor Charlie’s Angels in the #OpsChallenge at #WEFTEC18. As the first all women’s team to compete, I hope you will show your support and cheer for these talented ladies! I recently took a trip to meet the angels and was able to watch them practice. Get to know the team that will inspire more women to get involved to build the workforce of the future in water! #WatersWorthit
Another leader that comes to mind is our #PumpTalk Celebrity, Ernesto Enrique Primera. He is a Reliability Engineer, an instructor, and a wonderful partner for any committee! He doesn’t mind working hard and getting his hands dirty, and he also knows when to suit up! Take a moment to meet Ernesto and read more about how he got his start in the Pump Industry.
As you read the cover story of our September issue of Empowering Pumps & Equipment and Think Beyond, I challenge you to look at the other factors that affect the reliability of equipment. I often think about all the people and environments a piece of equipment may encounter. How does this affect the lifetime of equipment?
Lastly, I would like to draw your attention to our feature of A Day in the Life of Canadian Millwright, Steve Chwyl. He discusses the importance of safety and shows his pride for Canadian energy as they consider the impact on the environment before profits.
There are so many other industry topics, events, and people to showcase… I encourage you to follow and engage with us on social media so we can better Connect, Inform, and Educate each other everyday!
