Advanced Design Technology (ADT), a global leader in the development of advanced turbomachinery design methods and the TURBOdesign Suite today announces that TURBOdesign Suite version 5.2.1 is now shipping. This version of the first commercially available 3D inverse design software system for turbomachinery products—an evolution in blade design—introduces a new elliptically smoothed mesh generation routine in TURBOdesign CFD for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis as well as a new ability to predict stage performance, including volute performance, that previously was only available for pumps. Turbomachinery design engineers and manufacturers across most industries can now benefit from even greater functionality and develop products in far less time.
“The 3D inverse design method used in TURBOdesign Suite for turbomachinery design can result in significant reductions in the use of CFD computations to arrive at an optimum design and hence reduces development times,” says Professor Mehrdad Zangeneh, founder and managing director of ADT. “We are pleased to now deliver version 5.2.1 of the TURBOdesign Suite with new functionalities in TURBOdesign CFD, which has been developed to enable designers to perform accurate CFD evaluations of their designs in less time.”
Highlights of the new functionality in TURBOdesign Suite 5.2.1 include:

TURBOdesign Suite 5.2.1 in now available for download.
TURBOdesign Suite runs on Windows systems. It operates on mid-range workstations with 2.4 Ghz or better processors, 2 GB RAM and 1Gb disk space.
The TURBOdesign Suite is sold in modules starting from $15,000 USD with software training and technical support included.
About Mehrdad Zangeneh
Mehrdad Zangeneh, PhD. and professor of thermofluids at University College London, is founding director and CEO of Advanced Design Technology (ADT) and president of TURBOdesign Technology (TDT). For 26 years, Zangeneh has developed advanced turbomachinery design codes based on the 3D Inverse Design approach and automatic optimization to turbomachinery design. His research has resulted in important breakthroughs in turbomachinery and marine propulsor design, and he has been granted eight international patents. In 2000, Zangeneh was awarded the Japan’s Turbomachinery Society’s Gold Medal, and in 2003 he was awarded the Donald Julius Grone Prize by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in UK.
