On the surface, it would not appear that products as varied as oil and natural gas, chemicals, and food and beverages would have much in common. With the supply of those operational characteristics in mind, more and more facility operators in the oil and gas, chemical, and food and beverage industries are becoming aware of the ability of positive displacement eccentric disc pump technology to meet their fluid-handling needs.
Eccentric disc pump design consists of a cylinder and pumping element that are mounted on an eccentric shaft. As the eccentric shaft rotates, the pumping element forms chambers within the cylinder, which increase in size at the intake port, drawing fluid into the pumping chamber. The fluid is then transported to the discharge port where the size of the pumping chamber is decreased. This action squeezes the fluid into the discharge piping. The result is a pumping technology that delivers shear-sensitive and gentle transfer of a wide array of fluid types.
Mouvex®, Auxerre, France, has been a leader in providing eccentric disc pump technology to many industries since 1906. Recently, the company redesigned its standard-setting A Series Eccentric Disc Pump family to better meet the challenges of today’s oil and gas, chemical, and food and beverage markets.
