As a leading independent maintenance provider for rotating equipment, Sulzer delivers its expertise and capabilities worldwide through local service centers. An integral part of this network, the high-capacity facility in Orange provides quality repairs and upgrades for electric motors, generators, expanders, pumps, small steam turbines, gearboxes and other rotating equipment.
Using state-of-the-art facilities, an experienced team of engineers, project managers and technicians provide customers with optimized maintenance services that minimize downtime. The facility has proven its around-the-clock expertise and resilience many times, especially when completing critical repairs in the aftermath of hurricane season.
R.J. Reynolds, Service Center Manager, commented: “We specialize in motor repairs, with the capability to maintain AC motors up to 5,000 HP (3,680 kW) and DC motors up to 2,500 HP (1,840 kW). Our equipment, which includes a vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) tank, balancing facilities and testbeds, allow us to deliver expertly rewound motors for our customers.”
All of the staff in the service center have a passion for helping customers. This was exemplified following the devastation wrought by Hurricane Harvey, which caused 80% of the workforce to be displaced from their homes. Despite this, the service center continued to operate effectively with employees going the extra mile to deliver maintenance projects to help get the local area up and running again.
“Our commitment to our customers, as we go through hurricane season, is that we are available 24 hours, seven days a week. So, regardless of the prevailing weather, we have trucks and workshop availability ready for equipment that needs be repaired quickly. This ensures we can be a constant support to our customers,” says Jackie Andrus, Assistant Service Center Manager.
“Sulzer believes in the value of community,” RJ adds. “We put a lot of effort into being a part of the community and supporting it, and that includes our customers. By maintaining their critical equipment to the very highest standard 24/7, we can help them to grow and support others. We engage a lot with our customers and that’s something we really value.”
