TGP Investments II, LLC, the manager of private equity investment fund TGP Capital Partners II, LLC, is pleased to announce that the fund has acquired Omnidrive Holdings, LLC in partnership with its management team. Known in the marketplace as DSI Dynamatic, the Sturtevant, Wisconsin-based company is the leading supplier of Eddy Current variable speed drives, brakes, and controls with applications in diverse end-markets that include water and wastewater, chemical and material processing, and other industrial markets. Where process conditions demand adjustment of flow from a motor, pump, fan, or other machine, varying the speed of the drive can save energy compared with other techniques for flow control. Eddy Current drives operate at a constant speed with an AC motor and use an electro-magnetic device to control torque and speed to the driven load using a digital control. TGP and the company also announce that Gary Cavey was named Chief Executive Officer concurrent with the acquisition, supplementing the existing management team which remains in place. Eric Graham, TGP Managing Director, stated that “Gary served as CEO of MAC Equipment, one of our prior portfolio companies (now MAC Process, part of the Schenck Process Group), and was critical to a very successful outcome for that company, its employees, and our fund. He has a tremendous track-record of successfully operating industrial manufacturing businesses, and we have every confidence that he will put DSI Dynamatic in position to most-effectively capitalize on the numerous growth opportunities it has in front of it. We are extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with a manager the caliber of Gary again at DSI Dynamatic.”
DSI Dynamatic Vice President of Sales and Marketing said “our team met with numerous potential acquirors of the business and felt that TGP had the greatest opportunity to help us get this business to the next level based on their experience with companies like ours and the resources that they are able to bring to the table in terms of strategic vision, people, and capital.”
CEO Gary Cavey added, “DSI Dynamatic has a history dating back over eighty years, high quality products, and a brand name that is widely known and respected in the motion control industry. Our strategy going forward will be to build upon that strong foundation to open-up the market for applications where our Eddy Current variable speed drives and brake products provide the optimal variable speed control solution for industrial and municipal customers.”
