Wilden ® Celebrates 60 Years of AODD Pump Innovation

Wilden®, part of PSG®, a Dover company and a worldwide leader in air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pump technology, is pleased to announce that it is celebrating its 60-year anniversary in 2015.

Manufactured in Grand Terrace, CA, USA, Wilden was founded in 1955 by Jim Wilden when he revolutionized the pumping industry by inventing the AODD pump. Since that time, Wilden has been recognized as the global leader in AODD pump technology, providing innovative solutions for a wide range of applications in the energy, chemical, process and water & wastewater industries. Wilden became part of PSG in 2008, and now spans more than 160 countries with more than 180 distributors worldwide.

Specifically designed to provide maximum performance, reliability and efficiency, the comprehensive line of Wilden AODD pumps include OriginalClamped Metal & Plastic, Advanced Bolted Metal & Plastic, Advanced FIT, and SanifloFDA and Hygienic Series (HS). To compliment its leading-edge AODD pumps, Wilden also offers a complete line of award-winning Air Distribution Systems (ADS) designed to increase productivity while reducing energy consumption, air consumption and maintenance, including the Wilden Pro-Flo X and the latest innovation from Wilden, Pro-Flo® SHIFT. Additionally, Wilden offers a full line of state-of-the-art diaphragm technologies that have been specifically engineered to optimize the performance of Wilden AODD pumps. Examples include Wilden Full-Stroke PTFE Diaphragms, Full Stroke Integral-Piston Diaphragms and EZ-Install Diaphragms, among others.

“We are extremely excited to be celebrating our 60-year anniversary at Wilden,” said Denny Buskirk, Managing Director for Wilden. “As the inventor of the AODD pump, Wilden is a company founded on innovation, and therefore, is constantly introducing new technologies that will help bring AODD pumping technology into the future. Throughout our 60-year history, we have made a commitment to the pursuit of excellence, customer satisfaction, innovation, research and development and market knowledge. It is this commitment, along with keeping alive the innovative spirit and customer-focused culture that Jim Wilden left behind, that has undoubtedly made Wilden one of the market leaders in our industry. Celebrating 60 years in business is a testament to the dedication shown by both our employees and channel partners.”

In addition to inventing AODD pump technology, other product innovations from Wilden include the invention of the first ball valve pumps, AODD pumps with plastic housings, food-processing pumps with tri-clamp connections, groundable plastic pumps, PTFE diaphragms, TPE Thermoplastic Elastomer diaphragms, lube-free pumps, Equalizer Surge Dampeners, PCM Pump cycle monitors and bolted pumps with flanged connections.

The success of Wilden innovation was recognized in 2007 when it won Plant Engineering’s Product of the Year award for its revolutionary Pro-Flo X ADS. In 2013, Wilden’s Pro-Flo SHIFT ADS was recognized as a Breakthrough Product of the Year from Processing Magazine, which acknowledges products, technologies and service solutions that made a significant contribution in the process industry in a given year and are expected to have an impact for years to come. The Wilden Pro-Flo SHIFT was also recently named the winner of Flow Control Magazine’s 2014 Innovation Award that recognizes the top new technologies in flow control and movement for their contributions to the industry.

To celebrate 60 years of AODD pump innovation, Wilden hosted a distributor meeting and Hall-of-Fame Dinner in conjunction with the annual Wilden Golf Tournament. At the event, Wilden provided an overview of the company’s 60-year history while highlighting some of its most significant pump innovations.
