Hydraulic Designs of Multistage Pumps (Part 1) – Basic Modeling and CFD-Simulation

Since last year a new, streamlined workflow for Turbomachinery design, meshing, simulation, design exploration, and optimization is available with CFturbo on the market. It is a fully bi-directional integration of CFturbo into ANSYS Workbench, which allows interactive or automated design exploration for Turbomachinery components of pumps, blowers, fans, compressors, and turbines. As an alternative, CFturbo geometries can be easily and fast simulated with Simerics MP.

In this one-hour webinar, Ralph Peter Mueller and Chelsea Hall from CFturbo, Inc. show the basic conceptual hydraulic design of a three-stage vertical turbine pump in a live demo. Two different CFD-simulation workflows will be presented using ANSYS Workbench, and Simerics MP. Model setup, meshing, preparation of simulation will be discussed, and CFD-simulation results are demonstrated. A second webinar, which will be available in May ’21 will cover the optimization of multistage pumps.
