Hydraulic Institute Expands Membership Globally

Membership in the Hydraulic Institute (HI) has been opened to pump and supplier companies that manufacture wholly outside of North America but who sell into the North American market.  This change significantly expands HI membership opportunities globally.

According to HI Executive Director, Robert Asdal, “Expanding HI’s membership footprint beyond North America is a natural response to the global marketplace.  This move also aligns with HI’s vision to be a global authority on pumps and pumping systems. The active involvement of global companies, and their executives and engineers, will add vitality to HI and the volunteer committees that create standards, guidelines and training programs of the Institute and its Pump Systems Matter educational organization.  We expect both our current and new international members to benefit from the change.”

International members will be encouraged to participate in HI activities to take advantage of the full range of programs and services of the Institute, including:

  • Developing pump standards, guidebooks and educational materials
  • Networking with their pump industry counterparts in North America
  • Participating in HI’s global statistics program and economic forecasting trends
  • Broadening their exposure to the North American marketplace
  • Staying current with industry and Hydraulic Institute news and participating in events

The first three members to join HI under this program are: Shinmaywa (Japan); Hayward Tyler (Great Britain); Gilbert, Gilkes, and Gordon (Great Britain).

To learn more about the Hydraulic Institute, and membership benefits and eligibility, the Institute has developed a new “HI App” that runs on tablet devices.  Interested individuals can download the App from the Google Play Store or the Apple iTunes store by searching on “Hydraulic Institute” or visiting www.Pumps.org/MobileApp to access more information and a scanable QR code.

Prospective pump and supplier companies can attend the upcoming 2013 Annual meeting being held in Ft. Myers, FL from February 7-12, 2013.  For more information visit: www.Pumps.org/13Annual. For information on membership eligibility or to apply, contact Mary Silver, Director of Marketing & Membership at 973.267.9700 x117.

About the Hydraulic Institute: The mission of the Hydraulic Institute is to be a value-adding resource to member companies, engineering consulting firms, and pump users worldwide by developing and delivering comprehensive industry standards, expanding knowledge by providing education and tools for the effective application, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and performance optimization of pumps and pumping systems, and by serving as a forum for the exchange of industry information.
