Industry Person of the Week – Marysabel Gonzalez

Today’s Industry Person of the Week is Marysabel Gonzalez. Marysabel is a Reliability Manager

Q: How did you get started working on your career?

Marysabel: I got the opportunity to start working in PEQUIVEN in Venezuela following a big transformation period. After two years working as a Static Equipment Integrity Engineer, a major project was started on Reliability Engineering Implementation with the support of TWPL Latin America. I was lucky enough to be considered and appointed to take the role of Static Equipment Reliability Engineer and to be part of the implementation group.

Q: What do you love the most about your job?

Marysabel: I love the possibility of working and touching aspects of all the areas across the business, engineering, maintenance, operations, finance, and HSE. Being able to reach out to all levels of authorities, from the team doing the work on-site to the top-level manager taking the long-term decisions which allows me to get a deep level of understanding of the organization and business I’m living in.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?

Marysabel: Be confident and trust yourself, establish your objectives but also be aware of your limitations. Is my opinion that sustainable professional growth can only be achieved through consistent personal development. Be aware of yourself, understand what the value is you are adding to the organization, and continuously ask yourself this question each time you will find an opportunity to do it better and grow during the process. Respect yourself and others, be responsible and committed that will certainly be the key for great achievements.

Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?

Marysabel: For sure that will be the process we have been working on in AGPS, which was changing the culture from an isolated decision-making process to a more holistic business-oriented Risk Management System, which allowed the company to be certified last year on ISO55001 and has demonstrated to be an effective and efficient way of managing an asset intense company. It was a challenging process, which success was due to the commitment of the management team and involved employees.

Q: Anything else to add?

Marysabel: What is a company without its people? In these difficult times with so many challenges and uncertainties, more than many can handle, please take care of yourself and your team, pay close attention to your emotions and mental health, don’t be afraid of speaking out and seek help when needed. Remember difficult times bring with it a lot of opportunities for those who are opened to changes.

THANK YOU, MARYSABEL! WE LOOK FORWARD TO KEEPING UP WITH YOU THROUGH THE #PUMPTALK COMMUNITY!
