Our Industry Person of the Week is Sarah Wohlfahrt-water engineer. Here is what she had to share!

Q: How did you get started working in your field?

Sarah: I have always had an interest in protecting and working with our environment. I feel a responsibility to the earth to give back as much as I can. This inspired me in my studies in environmental resources engineering and then into my profession as a water engineer.

Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?

Sarah: What I love most about my job is being able to work on a range of projects, from upgrading wastewater plants to planting trees in New York City as green infrastructure. I love working on projects that will have a significant environmental benefit.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?

Sarah: Starting out, be involved in as many disciplines within the profession as possible to discover what suits you best.

Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?

Sarah: A project I worked on recently involved protecting a large commercial building from the influx of floodwater into their sewer system during storm surges.
