Metraflex Introducing new Magnetohydrodynamic Drive (MHD) Pump

New, patent-pending “silent” pump eliminates noise,
vibration and fluid turbulence

The Metraflex Company is revolutionizing the commercial plumbing/HVAC industry with a new, patent-pending Magnetohydrodynamic Drive (MHD) pump for engineered piping systems. The new MetraPump™ technology eliminates all moving parts in a pump, reducing its operation to a whisper. The MHD is silent, produces no vibration and no fluid turbulence.

Over twelve years in the making and millions in R&D and engineering, Metraflex has scaled the technology to make it affordable and create a small footprint for engineered piping systems. It is the holy grail of pump technology – incredibly efficient and virtually silent, eliminating the need for vibration-isolating and noise-reducing piping components.

The new MetraPump uses only electric and magnetic fields and no moving parts. An electric current is passed through water in the presence of an intense magnetic field, which interacts with the magnetic field of the current through the water. The water is then the moving, conductive part of an electric motor and water is then “pushed” out the back.

These pumps are incredibly efficient and will permit engineers to specify smaller pumps that achieve the same horsepower as pumps that are 30% larger. The new MetraPump will initially be available in sizes from 3-inch through 6 inch. Smaller sizes are expected to be introduced in the 1st quarter of 2014. Special pump sizing charts will be made available to our reps in the coming weeks.

We are sure there are lots of questions on this new pump technology. Please feel free to contact Metraflex to get more information on sizes and availability.

This is an incredibly exciting development in our industry and we look forward to working with you as we introduce the MetraPump.
