Latest Sulzer ‘Powered by People’ episode features experts explaining the technicalities behind some occasionally humorous engineering jargon

Sulzer has released the latest video in its Powered by People series. The new episode, Thingamajig, has Sulzer employees taking on a fiendish quiz of ambiguous engineering jargon. As non-engineers stumble over the terminology with some humorous results, experts explain the hidden meaning behind the phrases that they use every day. You can view the new video, as well as the rest of the series, on the Sulzer YouTube channel.

Being a Sulzer expert isn’t easy. There is a vast range of components, tools, machines, and terminology to master. In Thingamajig, this knowledge is put to the test as Sulzer employees are asked to define challenging engineering terms such as bikini, hula-skirt, and lemon-bore.

Darayus Pardivala, President, Sulzer Rotating Equipment Services, Americas, said: “Each episode in the series focuses on the amazing people who power Sulzer. Thingamajig features our employees taking a short detour to test their engineering trivia, with non-engineers learning from the experts. This one showcases our fun side and the knowledge we utilize to help customers every day.”

In the next Powered by People video, Just Passing By, we will meet Marcelo, a maintenance technician at Sulzer Turbo Services Houston, whose short vacation turned into a successful 25-year career.
