Backflow Testing…Working in a field that Makes a Difference.

Backflow testing…What’s that? Hey, there! I’m Tylor Peck and that was a question I asked myself about two months ago before I officially joined the Syncta team as a new Inside Sales Executive. Since that time, I have spent countless hours learning about how to prevent backflow and the priceless role of the backflow testers. I have read literature, watched many videos, and even took a couple of exams on backflow. I passed the exams – just in case you were wondering.

I have to say at the end of the day, I’m a hands-on guy and my eyes were really opened when I went on a ride along with Steve, a local backflow tester. If I had to describe my day in one word…miserable. Steve was great – I promise! But after spending a cold, wet and windy day with Steve, my respect and admiration for those testers is now up there with the first responders. The folks who perform backflow tests, and those that are in the backflow business, are super heroes in my book. It may sound silly, but they are saving the men, women and children in the community from drinking contaminated water, which could result in people getting extremely ill or much worse, death.

I recently read a story about a backflow preventer at an asphalt and emulsions company that was not working properly. It let 8,000 gallons of a toxic chemical as well as Hydraulic Acid into the public water supply. The result? The entire city was put on a “water ban” which is much worse than a “boil advisory.” Residents couldn’t take showers, wash their clothes, and of course drink the water for the next four days. The worst thing is that this issue wasn’t caught for the first three days and people were drinking this polluted water. As a parent, knowing that it was preventable is most upsetting.

I have four young kids, and no that’s not a typo! You can say I like a good challenge. My four kids include three wonderful girls and a very, very busy two-year-old son. We are an active family who enjoys surfing, snowboarding, hiking, camping, and pretty much anything that the great outdoors has to offer.

As long as I can remember, I have always strived to make a difference, help those in need, and create a positive impact on the lives of others. I truly believe that the Syncta solution will allow me to continue to positively impact the lives others. I’m grateful to work with an amazing team that is just as passionate as I am about making a positive difference.
