What’s your logo mean?

A logo, as stated in Wikipedia, is a graphic mark or emblem commonly used by commercial enterprises, organizations and even individuals to aid and promote instant public recognition.

Recently, I ran across a post on EBARA’s facebook page that asked if I wanted to know more about their logo. How could I resist?  Of course I want to know! After I received this explanation, I felt it had to be shared!

“This year, EBARA Technologies introduces a new 100th Anniversary logo to both commemorate EBARA’s founding and mark the beginning of the next 100 years. It is designed to inspire new challenges with greater leaps forward and global activity as well as a broader range of society contributions.  Connecting water, sky, and earth into the ultramarine base color, this logo emphasizes how we conduct our business operations.

Shaped like an arrow, the number 1 points upward and to the right to symbolize EBARA’s future potential, vitality, and dynamism.  The second zero evokes the image of the earth, symbolizing EBARA’s desire to continue making contributions around the world in various fields that support social infrastructure, industry, and lifestyles. The three arrows revolving around the earth point upward and to the right to represent our three companies: Fluid Machinery & Systems, Environmental Engineering, and Precision Machinery.  The arrows also signify our goal to develop continuous earth and societal benefits.

The phrase “Challenge NEXT100” expresses the start of a new century for us and articulates our medium-term management plan policy to “tackle new challenges to maintain our status as a company beneficially contributing to society.”   In addition it conveys our dedication to continue building EBARA’s legacy of globalization, manufacturing innovation, and corporate advancement.”

This reminded me of the design of the Empowering Pumps logo. I remembered my decision to add “Connecting the Global Pump Industry” to the logo.  I wanted everyone to know, at a glance, we have a simple mission… Connecting!

Isn’t this one of the most important marketing tools you have???  It is defined as an aid in promotion and instant public recognition.

I would be interested to learn more about other logos with real meaning behind the design… Please comment below if you have one to share!
