We can’t tell you how many customers let us know they will only commission a system if an AFT analysis was run on it prior to handing it over. You see, AFT doesn’t create hydraulic flow analysis tools simply because we like to ensure pipe calculations and sizes are correct; our software is built by engineers for engineers, to help make your entire piping system design run as efficiently as possible while meeting your design requirements.

In total, AFT directly employs eleven engineers who each have a diverse range of engineering degrees and also bring field experience such as: power generation, aerospace, chemical, oil & gas, electrical, and mechanical design.

Our engineers work directly with the world’s top companies. They travel to present technical papers and teach short courses at some of the most prestigious and well-respected conferences; and are continuously onsite at facilities training engineers how to design their systems efficiently and sustainably.

They are hands-on in the development of the software and are the biggest critics of how our products can help fellow engineers. There is an internal motivation within the culture at Applied Flow Technology which drives every employee to produce quality tools and meet market expectations.

AFT’s engineers are how we can produce software that helps take systems from good to great. They have taken technology that once had to be outsourced and created tools that an everyday engineer can use to accomplish the same goals.

Our engineers have confidently served over 80 countries, hundreds of companies, and tens of thousands of engineers; engineers who all work differently; but ultimately have the same end-goals.

In 2016, AFT engineers recognized several opportunities to enhance all of the AFT products.  Some hard work and long hours were invested and throughout 2018, AFT released new versions of all of our primary products including AFT Fathom 10, AFT Arrow 7, and AFT Impulse 7.

The new versions each incorporate advanced features with a primary focus of integrated import / export partnerships between software files. All AFT applications now allow users to jumpstart their models by import piping layouts from CAESAR II® Neutral files and Piping Component Files (*.pcf) including SmartPlant®CADWorx® and AutoCAD Plant 3D, among others. All of this is in addition to the previous capability to import GIS shape files and EPANET files.

Additionally, over the years, AFT engineers have ensured our interface is so easy, that engineers at all levels can use it. One secret feature is how easy it is to interchange models between our products. For example, designers can use their AFT Fathom models in AFT Impulse to analyze the transients to see how the system will behave in the event of a power outage, a pump trip, a valve slam, evaluate vapor cavities, or pressure extremes.

They have also included tools like scenario managers that share common data sources, global editing, heat transfer, extensive excel integration, and more!
